After witnessing the awesome spectacle of the Fagradalsfjall volcanic eruption in Iceland in 2021, I travelled to La Palma in November of that year, specifically to see another volcano in action. This time, it was Cumbre Vieja (‘Old Summit’), which erupted at short notice and caused havoc to the island’s inhabitants.
The photo, which still seems unreal to me, was taken just after nightfall, high up on the Caldera de Taburiente at a place called Roque de Los Cuervos (‘Rock of the Ravens’). It shows the volcano at full power, raging into the night. It was truly an awesome sight to witness.
Available as a fine art photo print or as a canvas wrap. Postage (UK mainland only) is included in the price.
